last chance to write to NIH about new government guidelines for embryonic stem cell research
The Obama administration is proposing new guidelines for embryonic-destructive stem cell research. President Obama will be using our tax dollars to pay for medical experimentation on tiny human beings. As we have done in the past, we must make our voices heard! Not only is this kind of research reprehensible, it is unnecessary(see my post from 4-20)! To make your voice heard, go to this web site:

planned parenthood & founder history
In doing research on this subject I was flooded with articles & web-sites about Margaret Sanger, the founder of Planned Parenthood. There is so much out there about her that I had a hard time narrowing it down. I've included a number of quotes & sites below that you can click on for more info. Or do your own google search.
1.
Margaret Sanger was a radical supporter of the eugenic movement. She advocated for a superior race that was free of the poor, immigrants, & minority citizens. She even spoke at a Ku Klux Klan rally. Among many other quotes from Margaret Sanger herself that can be found on this web-site http://www.dianedew.com/sanger.htm are these that stuck out to me.
"The most merciful thing that a large family does to one of its infant members is to kill it." Margaret Sanger, Women and the New Race (Eugenics Publ. Co., 1920, 1923)
On blacks, immigrants and indigents:
"...human weeds,' 'reckless breeders,' 'spawning... human beings who never should have been born." Margaret Sanger, Pivot of Civilization, referring to immigrants and poor people
On sterilization & racial purification:
Sanger believed that, for the purpose of racial "purification," couples should be rewarded who chose sterilization. Birth Control in America, The Career of Margaret Sanger, by David Kennedy, p. 117, quoting a 1923 Sanger speech.
2.
Margaret Sanger aligned herself with the eugenicists whose ideology prevailed in the early 20th century. Eugenicists strongly espoused racial supremacy and “purity,” particularly of the “Aryan” race. Eugenicists hoped to purify the bloodlines and improve the race by encouraging the “fit” to reproduce and the “unfit” to restrict their reproduction. They sought to contain the “inferior” races through segregation, sterilization, birth control and abortion.

A couple video's that pulled on my heartstrings!

4.
"Now, I have to tell you that it was a great privilege when I was told that I would receive this award. I admire Margaret Sanger enormously, her courage, her tenacity, her vision. … I am really in awe of her. …. Yet we know that Margaret Sanger's work here in the United States and certainly across our globe is not done."
http://www.nrlc.org/news_and_views/April09/nv042309.html
Very scary words coming from our countries Secretary of State. What does she mean by the words "Margaret Sanger's work here is not done.".......
5.
You must understand the basic underlying philosophies that drive Planned Parenthood's work. These are contained in Humanist Manifesto II. Although many at Planned Parenthood will deny that they spread this doctrine, a number of the leaders of the organization are either signers of the document or have received awards for spreading its philosophies. Among these leaders are:
Margaret Sanger (founder of PP) - Humanist of the Year 1957
Albert Ellis (member PP leadership committee) - Humanist of the Year 1971
Alan Guttmacher (president of PP) - Signer of Humanist Manifesto II 1973
Mary Calderone (medical director of PP) - Humanist of the Year 1974
Betty Friedan (member PP leadership committee) - Humanist of the Year 1975
Isaac Asimov (member PP leadership committee) - Humanist of the Year 1984
Faye Wattleton (president of PP) - Humanist of the Year 1986
Lloyd Morain (member Board of Directors of PPFA) - Humanist of the Year 1994

Take action before May 26th!
May 15, 2009 For Immediate Release
The Little People on Death Row
By Tom Grenchik
Americans have until May 26 to intervene in the death sentences of countless members of our human family. Unless we speak up, some of our youngest sisters and brothers may now be destroyed because their parts are valued more than their very lives.Stem cells are biological building blocks that can be manipulated to replace many other types of cells, in the hope of repairing the human body and curing disease.
Stem cells can be taken from adult tissues and from newborn babies’ umbilical cord blood without any harm to the donor, and without any moral dilemma. These are loosely called “adult stem cells.” But stem cells can also be immorally harvested from a human embryo, destroying the un-consenting “donor.” These are called “embryonic stem cells.”
Adult stem cells have been used to regenerate areas of damaged organs, restore eyesight, repair heart damage and treat rare blood disorders. Embryonic stem cell treatments, on the other hand, have chiefly resulted in growing tumors and killing laboratory rats.
Following President Obama’s March 9 executive order, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) has proposed new guidelines for federally funded embryonic stem cell research. The guidelines would – for the first time – use taxpayer funds to encourage the killing of embryonic human beings for their stem cells. This is morally wrong. Even if an embryo may be at risk of being abandoned by his or her parents in a fertility clinic, that does not give researchers or the government a right to kill that human being – much less a right to make the rest of us subsidize that destructive agenda. These guidelines mark a new chapter in divorcing biomedical research from its necessary ethical foundation, respect for human life at all stages.
Some in Congress and the Administration want an even broader policy. They want to obtain stem cells by destroying human embryos specially generated for research through in vitro fertilization (IVF) or cloning procedures, a “create to kill” policy. While the president’s executive order gave the NIH the leeway to push to that extreme, so far these initial guidelines have not done so.
Patients suffering from devastating illnesses deserve our compassion and our committed response, but not at the cost of innocent life. The Church supports ethical stem cell research and treatments that do no harm and respect the inherent dignity of persons, such as the morally acceptable medical advances that are already benefiting patients with dozens of conditions in clinical trials. The United States Conference of Catholic Bishops (USCCB) has launched a new “Oppose Destructive Stem Cell Research” campaign, equipping citizens to contact Congress and the National Institutes of Health to oppose embryonic stem cell research and support ethical and effective cures and treatments.
The campaign homepage, www.usccb.org/stemcellcampaign, explains why the proposed NIH guidelines are unacceptable, provides links to USCCB resources, and helps web users to “Contact Congress & NIH Now” by e-mail.
But time is running short for our embryonic sisters and brothers. If we don’t speak up, after May 26 their fate lies in the hands of researchers and ideologues who may see them merely sources of body parts, as commodities for our use. Please go to www.usccb.org/stemcellcampaign right now.

Shrine Pilgrimage Reminder
May 17 Shrine Pilgrimage and Mass of Reparation for Offenses against Human LifeThe faithful of the Diocese are invited to come in pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse for a Mass of Reparation for Offenses against Human Life on Sunday, May 17 at 1:00 PM.
It is fitting that, as political trends show the culture of death infecting much of the world, we make reparation through the Mass and invoke the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Unborn. This pilgrimage and Mass comes on the same day that President Obama will appear at the University of Notre Dame to receive an honorary degree in law and to speak at their commencement, something that has prompted objection from Bishop Listecki and many other Bishops, as well as countless faithful, because of President Obama’s repeated pro-abortion executive actions and appointments.
Groups of ten or more that plan to make the pilgrimage are asked to email the Office of Ministries and Social Concerns at hhanson@dioceseoflacrosse.com with a count of how many are coming.
You are also invited to a free Organ Recital by Dr. Brian Luckner, Director of Sacred Music for the Shrine

Beautiful Pro-life advertisement
This is a beautiful ad done by CatholicVote.org (just click on the play button on their web-page). It is the second video they've developed in their "imagine campaign". The first one was set to air during the Superbowl, but NBC & CNN rejected it. This second ad is has been preliminarily approved to air on Fox during the season finale of American Idol. Let’s pray that this beautiful, positive message reaches hearts that need to hear it most.
If your curious here is the 1st one that NBC rejected... it's pretty powerful!

Send message to NIH & Prayer campaign
The Obama Administration has continued to issue policies that promote a Culture of Death. At the present time concern is focused on draft guidelines promoting destructive embryonic stem cell research. On March 9, President Obama issued an Executive Order overturning the limits President Bush had placed on government funding of this destructive research. On April 23, the National Institutes of Health (NIH) published draft guidelines implementing the Obama directive. The public has until May 26 to submit comments.
Also Members of Congress have said they intend to move forward with legislation that goes beyond the NIH guidelines.
We are inviting you to send, first, a message to your Representative and two Senators in Congress and, second, comments to the NIH. The NCHLA Grassroots Action Center will facilitate you doing this. First, in the usual way you will be able to send a message to Congress and then you will automatically be directed to a page where you can choose to send comments to NIH. In both the message to Congress and the comments to NIH, we have placed a pro-life text in the e-mail form, to which you can add your own remarks.
Please act today! To send your messages now & to read the full Action Alert first, click the link below. Thanks!

resources for crisis pregnancy
That term crisis pregnancy almost seems like an ozymorone to me personaly.. but I don't have to try very hard to understand and put myself in other women's shoes for a moment.. imagine if I found out my baby had a developmental problem that would require lots of expensive medical intervention for the rest of our lives.. or if I was a single, yonger woman who felt like I had little to no support.. I can see how an unplanned pregnancy would most definitly be a crisis.
There are MANY good resources out there for women who need help at this very scary & important time in their lives. I have tried to list a few. If you know of more let me know & I will add them to the list. Keep this in your "back pocket" incase you are ever in a posistion to offer help to a women looking for advice or resources.
Crisis Pregnancy Centers are the heart of the ProLife community; they help needy mothers and offer alternatives to abortion. But keep in mind that not all crisis pregnancy center value the dignity of life, so ask or do some reasearch before recomending anyplace.

Governor Palin acts out her Pro-Life stance.
By Tom Strode - Apr 28, 2008
Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin has put her pro-life beliefs into personal practice.
Palin, 44, gave birth to her fifth child April 18 in an act that is counter-cultural — her baby boy, Trig Paxson Van Palin, has Down syndrome. The prevalence of prenatal genetic testing and the reportedly hopeless portrait painted by many obstetricians have helped abortion become the default option in recent years for parents whose unborn children are diagnosed with the condition. It has been estimated as much as 90 percent of unborn babies detected with Down syndrome in the United States are aborted.
Palin and her husband, Todd, introduced Trig to reporters and photographers when she returned to work April 21. She acknowledged she was sad when testing early in her pregnancy showed her baby had Down syndrome.
“When we first heard, it was kind of confusing,” Palin told reporters, according to the Anchorage (Alaska) Daily News, adding the news was “very, very challenging.”
Todd and she moved beyond that, the governor said, adding they believe God has blessed and chosen them. She said Trig is “absolutely perfect” to them.
“It just feels like he fits perfectly,” she said. “He is supposed to be here with us.”
Palin emailed a letter to family members and close friends on the same day she gave birth, writing it as if it came from God and signing it: “Trig’s Creator, Your Heavenly Father.”
“Many people will express sympathy, but you don’t want or need that, because Trig will be a joy,” the letter said, according to the Daily News. “You have to trust me on this.
“Children are the most precious and promising ingredient in this mixed-up world you live in down there on Earth. Trig is no different, except he has one extra chromosome.”
Down syndrome normally results when a person has three copies, rather than two, of chromosome 21.
A pro-life advocate and a Republican, Palin was elected in 2006 as Alaska’s first female governor, as well as its youngest. She is breast feeding Trig and plans to take him to work with her, the Daily News reported.
“Her choice to value life in a very personal way speaks volumes and gives those of us in the pro-life community in Alaska cause to believe that we truly do have a pro-life leader in charge of our state,” Eagle Forum Alaska President Debbie Joslin told LifeNews.com. “When so many in our culture have chosen to devalue the lives of those who face special learning disabilities, Governor Palin shines as a great positive role model.”

Three links worth clicking on
The first is a powerful pro-life keynote given by Bishop Robert Finn of the Diocese of Kansas City-St. Joseph. His words are frank, sobering and inspiring at the same time.http://catholickey.blogspot.com/2009/04/we-are-at-war-bishop-finns-gospel-of.html
The second is a beautiful pro-life ballad that goes straight to the heart. The power of music can sometimes touch hearts where arguments fail. Share it!http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VROBmaeBdNE&feature=related
The third is a petition from the American Center for Law and Justice demanding that the Director of Homeland Security retract her statement that pro-lifers are prone to be dangerous right-wing extremists.http://www.aclj.org/Petition/?ac=1&zip=*Zip&sc=3430
