Take two minutes to send a pre-written email to your senators by following the link below. Very easy, very important. Even if we lose, we need to keep our voice in their ears. Pass it along.
Final Push: Have Your Voice Heard!
The fight to defeat the nomination of Kathleen Sebelius as the Secretary of Human Services is coming down to its final hours. We have received word from the Senate that they will be debating and voting on her nomination tomorrow, Tuesday April 28th.
Governor Sebelius has shown an unwillingness to back down from her extreme pro-abortion agenda. Just this past Thursday, Governor Sebelius vetoed “The 2009 Late-Term and Partial-Birth Abortion Regulation Act” in Kansas that would have put important restrictions on the abortion industry.
Once again Kathleen Sebelius has sided with her abortion clinic friends like George Tiller rather than act to protect women and children from the particularly horrific practices of partial birth and late term abortions.
Write your Senators today and once again urge them to vote NO on Kathleen Sebelius.
As governor, Sebelius has repeatedly vetoed other common-sense restrictions on the abortion industry like the Comprehensive Abortion Reform Act, which would have implemented restrictions on late-term abortion procedures. She has opposed or vetoed several abortion-accountability bills, including legislation that would have required medically-supported clinic regulation. She has also vetoed legislation requiring explicit medical reasons for post-viability, late-term abortions.
It is bad enough that Kathleen Sebelius has pushed her abortion agenda on Kansas. We cannot allow Sebelius’ radical pro-abortion agenda to be implemented for the whole country.
This fight is now more crucial than ever as opposition to Sebelius grows.
Write your Senators today and once again urge them to vote NO on Kathleen Sebelius.
There is still time to make your voice heard!

Write to NIH today about stem cell research.. Obama propsing new guidelines
Time to Make Your Voice Heard…Again!
The Obama administration is proposing new guidelines for embryonic-destructive stem cell research. President Obama will be using our tax dollars to pay for medical experimentation on tiny human beings. As we have done in the past, we must make our voices heard! Not only is this kind of research reprehensible, it is unnecessary! To make your voice heard, go to this web site:
http://nihoerextra.nih.gov/stem_cells/add.htm before May 26th!
If you prefer snail mail with a good, old-fashioned handwritten letter, you can mail your comments to: NIH Stem Cell Guidelines, MSC 7997, 9000 Rockville Pike, Bethesda, Maryland, 20892-7997. Please stand against this destruction of human life!!

Save the Date: May 17th.. Shrine Pilgrimage & Mass of Reparation
I wanted to give you a heads up so you can mark your calendars. I will add a post closer to May 17th to remind you.
May 17 Shrine Pilgrimage and Mass of Reparation for Offenses against Human LifeThe faithful of the Diocese are invited to come in pilgrimage to the Shrine of Our Lady of Guadalupe in La Crosse for a Mass of Reparation for Offenses against Human Life on Sunday, May 17 at 1:00 PM.
It is fitting that, as political trends show the culture of death infecting much of the world, we make reparation through the Mass and invoke the intercession of Our Lady of Guadalupe, Patroness of the Unborn. This pilgrimage and Mass comes on the same day that President Obama will appear at the University of Notre Dame to receive an honorary degree in law and to speak at their commencement, something that has prompted objection from Bishop Listecki and many other Bishops, as well as countless faithful, because of President Obama’s repeated pro-abortion executive actions and appointments.
Groups of ten or more that plan to make the pilgrimage are asked to email the Office of Ministries and Social Concerns at hhanson@dioceseoflacrosse.com with a count of how many are coming.
you are also invited to a free Organ Recital by Dr. Brian Luckner, Director of Sacred Music for the Shrine

updated! For those living in WI act NOW!
Contact Your State Senator TODAY
Fully formed babies of between 19 and 22 weeks will be dismembered at the Madison Surgery Center. And what is to stop them from performing even later abortions in the future ... after all, abortion is legal for the full nine months of pregnancy!
On Thursday (April 23rd), the State Senate will be voting on nominees to sit on the UW Hospital and Clinics Authority Board. AND on the final confirmation of Sheldon Wasserman for the State Medical Examining Board (Wisconsin’s highest medical licensing board).
Tomorrow our Wisconsin State Senators will vote
Two of those nominees, Roger Axtell and Mike Weiden, previously voted to approve the late-term abortion clinic which will be housed at the Madison Surgery Center. These two individuals are responsible, along with others, for the impending horror that will take place within the walls of the Madison Surgery Center. For that reason, we consider them unfit to serve on the Board.

40 Days for Life
Wow again, we can really accomplish a lot when we work together! An effort through the 40 Days for Life campaign resulted in 17 employees of abortion centers to quit their jobs and three abortion centers to close
From February 25 to April 5, some 135 cities in the United States, Canada, Australia and Northern Ireland joined together for the 40 Days for Life campaign. The effort featured 40 days of prayer and fasting for an end to abortion, constant vigil outside abortion centers, and extensive community outreach. During this campaign, 40 Days for Life received reports of 389 babies whose lives were saved from abortion. For the full story check here. http://www.lifenews.com/nat4968.html
The next coordinated 40 Days for Life campaign is September 23 – November 1. There are multiple sites through out the US including many in Iowa, Minnesota, & Wisconsin. Check here for more info http://www.40daysforlife.com/

Dr. Oz on Oprah - stemcell debate
Wow! The more I look there is tons of pro-life stuff out there. Just today I found 8 stories that I think are worthy of informing you about. I won't post them all today so I don't bombard you with too much info today & nothing tomorrow. If I can help inform you of even a fraction of what is out there, then I'll be happy. I hope you will be too.
This actually happened a few weeks ago, but I never saw it on TV or the news. Dr. Oz a well respected doctor was on Oprah's talk show with Micheal J. Fox (a well known proponent of stem cell research). He announced that the stem cell debate is dead. More specifically that embryo stem cell is not the answer but that adult stem cell is. You can view the segment on YouTube
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lDFJOzu9SyM
He explains how embryo stem cells have not yet decided what they will be, so when we have used them they end up turning into tumors. Adult stem cells already know what cell they will be & we can "re-program" them back to be helpful... well he explains it better than me.. check it out

NotreDame honors President Obama debate
There has been a lot of talk about whether it is right for a catholic college to honor President Obama with an honorary law degree & invite him to give the commencement speech at the graduation ceremony. At first you may thing it sounds trivial. But when I think about it, it is quiet an honor to be asked to speak. And for a catholic institution to honor the the most anti-life president ever sends a message that we accept his actions. The catholic church actually came out with a statement about this very subject back in 2004 stating
“Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.”
I believe Notre Dame is completely going against this statement. I encourage you to learn more. You can voice your opinion here. http://www.notredamescandal.com/

FOCA is Pro-Abortion.....not pro-choice! There is a difference
The Freedom of Choice Act is much more than an issue of Pro-Choice vs Pro-life. You can be pro-choice and still be against this act. It proposes to make abortion a fundamental right. Which means among other things that you as tax payers would be forced to pay for abortions… it would allow partial birth abortions and abortions after the first trimester … it would force medical facilities and staff to perform abortions even faith bases hospitals such as the one we have in La Crosse….it would take away all laws requiring a waiting period before abortion so that women can take time to think about the decision and get educated… And it would allow under age girls to have abortions with no parental consent… Can you imagine a 15,16, or even 17 year old girl who gets pregnant… which do you think she’d rather.. Tell her parents she got pregnant and deal with the consequences.. or go to someone who would make it go a way… for free… without anyone knowing …the very same day she found out???In the year 2000 there were 3,600 abortions per day…that’s 150per hour.. 2.5per minute… 1 every 24 seconds….1% of all abortions occured because of rape or incest; 6% because of potential health problems to mom or baby & 93% because of social reasons (unwanted or inconvenient). In just one year, more children die from abortions than died in the Revolutionary War, Civil War, World wars I & II, the Korean, Vietnam & Gulf Wars COMBINED! Think what passing this FOCA would do to these stats..Hopefully we can blow our congressmen away with the number of postcards they get.. but even then our job is not done. If the FOCA does not go through they will keep coming with more legislation that we need to keep fighting.. so stay informed.. send more than one letter & sign more than one petition… and don’t underestimate the power of prayer.Lord and giver of all life, help us to value each person, created in love by you. In your mercy, guide and assist our efforts to promote the dignity and value of all life, born and unborn. We ask this through Christ our Lord.. Amen.
