There has been a lot of talk about whether it is right for a catholic college to honor President Obama with an honorary law degree & invite him to give the commencement speech at the graduation ceremony. At first you may thing it sounds trivial. But when I think about it, it is quiet an honor to be asked to speak. And for a catholic institution to honor the the most anti-life president ever sends a message that we accept his actions. The catholic church actually came out with a statement about this very subject back in 2004 stating
“Catholic institutions should not honor those who act in defiance of our fundamental moral principles. They should not be given awards, honors or platforms which would suggest support for their actions.”
I believe Notre Dame is completely going against this statement. I encourage you to learn more. You can voice your opinion here. http://www.notredamescandal.com/
